What Actually Happens During a Site Supervision Visit

More than a walk-through

A proper site supervision visit is not a casual check-in — it is a structured review against the drawings and the schedule. Done properly, it catches problems while they are still cheap to fix.

What gets checked

• Work completed since the last visit, checked against the drawings
• Workmanship quality — finishes, alignment, material handling
• Whether the schedule is on track, and what is causing any delay
• Coordination between trades working on site at the same time
• Safety and site organisation

Why it needs to be consistent

A single site visit tells you very little. What matters is a consistent cadence of supervision throughout the project, so issues are caught within days, not discovered at the final walkthrough when fixing them means undoing finished work.

Who should be doing it

Site supervision is most effective when it is carried out by someone accountable to the original design intent — ideally the same team that produced the drawings — rather than a separate party seeing the project for the first time on site.
