Overview
A renovation starts differently from a new build — with an honest assessment of what already exists. Before any design decisions are made, the studio reviews the existing structure, services and finishes to understand what can be kept, what needs replacing, and whether any structural review is required before work begins.
From there, the same design and construction standard used on new builds is applied to the renovation — material upgrades, layout changes and finish work are planned properly rather than patched in around the existing space. For occupied homes and businesses, work is phased to limit disruption to daily life or operations wherever that's possible.
This applies equally to residential renovations and commercial or retail units being reworked for a new use, brand refresh or simply brought up to a better standard than they were built to originally.

Existing-condition assessment
Before any design work starts, the existing structure, services and finishes are assessed to establish what can be kept and what needs replacing.
Structural review where required
Where a renovation affects load-bearing elements or existing structure, a proper structural review is carried out before work proceeds.
Full material and finish upgrades
Finishes and materials are upgraded to the same standard used on new builds, rather than patched to match what already existed.
Phased renovation planning to limit disruption
For occupied homes and businesses, work is sequenced in phases to keep disruption to daily life or operations to a minimum.
